A Star Giving Back to His Roots
Zambian international footballer Fashion Sakala, currently playing for Al-Fayha FC in Saudi Arabia, has once again demonstrated his deep commitment to community development by launching the Fashion Sakala Provincial Tournament with a massive K1.6 million budget.
Strategic Budget for Maximum Impact
The tournament funds have been thoughtfully distributed to ensure inclusiveness and long-term benefits:
- Men’s Tournaments: K700,000
- Women’s Tournament: K400,000
- Rural Areas (20 Tournaments): K500,000
This allocation reflects Sakala’s passion for supporting not just elite talent but also uplifting rural communities often left behind.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Speaking on the initiative, Sakala emphasized the importance of nurturing young footballers and using sport as a tool for empowerment.
“We are committed to nurturing young talent and strengthening our community through football,” he shared.
He encouraged clubs and supporters in Eastern Province to rally behind the tournament and support the youth.
More Than a Footballer
Sakala’s contributions extend far beyond the pitch. Born in Kawele, Chipata District, he has always remained connected to his roots. His humanitarian efforts include:
- Sponsoring past tournaments worth over K1 million
- Building a secondary school in Mbejere Village
- Donating over 120 wheelchairs in Chipata District
- Distributing over 1,000 bags of mealie meal to drought-hit families
In recognition of these efforts, he was awarded Zambia’s Man of the Year Humanitarian Award in 2024.
From Chipata to Champions League Nights
Sakala’s football journey began in Zambia with Zanaco FC before he moved abroad to Russia, Belgium, and later Scotland, where he starred for Rangers FC. In 2023, he signed with Al-Fayha FC in Saudi Arabia, where he continues to shine.
The FS10 Dream Lives On
With the motto “Dreams Don’t Die”, Fashion Sakala continues to be a living inspiration to thousands of young Zambians. Through football, education, and community outreach, he is planting seeds for a better future in Eastern Province.
